Lawrence Lessig, Professor of Law at Stanford Law School and copyright reform champion gives an interesting presentation about the future of artistic expression at the OFC conference in San Diego:
The examples of new transformative works are quite fun and thought-provoking. In addition, his take on the need for a paradigm shift in the way we look at copyright is insightful. And what is particularly humorous is the fact that Warner Music has issued a DMCA takedown notice on the video, even though it is pretty clear that it falls under fair use. Once again, the music industry demonstrates its ineptitude in understanding the future of creative works. Sigh.
